"At The Intersection Of Christ And Life"
Harold L. Hauser    M.A., M.Div., L.C.P.C., L.M.F.T.  SCCC Director
In my decades of counseling I have noticed on numerous occasions that life can be extremely frustrating, confusing and depressing. The teen years are a real challenge with family and peer related problems and young adulthood offers very
little relief with leaving home and adjusting to a new life style.
Then marriage follows and the problems continue to pop up unexpectedly. In addition to these issues there are concerns about job loss, health problems, addictions and a host of other situations and conditions that are just overwhelming. Many of us just feel overwhelmed, emotionally/spiritually bankrupt and STUCK. In an attempt to free ourself from the pain, we try all the tricks possible. Often the tricks don’t work.  We are STUCK, STUCK AND STUCK. Many people think that only crazy people seek counseling, but that is not true, most of us are just unable to move forward.
My past experiences are an accumulation of growing up as a delinquent child, raised by dysfunctional parents, hating school and dropping out in the ninth grade. I joined the U.S. Navy as an 8th grade graduate and while serving 8 years in the Armed Forces I grew older, wiser and received my  G.E.D. I was married for 28 years, raised four children, who on occasion drove me crazy (I am sure they felt the same about me.) In my young adult life I received a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, and a Masters in Counseling at the University of Northern Iowa. I received a 2nd Master’s Degree in Divinity from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Lombard, IL. For 15 years I was a Deputy and Chief Juvenile Probation Officer in the 6th Judicial District of Iowa (Cedar Rapids/Iowa City area.) The fact that I was a good juvenile delinquent is probably why I became a Juvenile Probation Officer. The fact that I struggled in school is probably the reason I wrote my master’s thesis on “Learning Disabilities and Their Contribution to Delinquency.” I have been a contracted therapist for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and was an Adoption Specialist in Illinois, involved in about 400 cases.
I am licensed in the State of Illinois as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I am also an Ordained Minister with a main line church. I started the Southside Christian Counseling Center in 1986 and since then we have experienced tremendous growth. We have been blessed to have offered help to about 13,000 individuals and families during that period.
I (we) would love to have the opportunity to meet you either as a new friend or a client. If you think we can help, please call.
